No matter how flashy or dynamic the design, the most important feature of a website is the content. An attractive website can only survive so long without substance. Eventually, the viewers will become board with the spinning, blinking, bouncing, and other special effects. The site content is what will keep web viewers coming back to visit the domain. Therefore, a successful website needs good if not outstanding site content. People should not let the excitement surrounding search engine optimization fool them. Yes, SEO is useful. However, following every rule in the SEO book does not guarantee that a website will attract tons of visitors. The only way to reach that goal is to create a quality website with great site content. Whether a person or company supplies its own content or hires a professional copywriter, the site content has to be legitimate and relevant to the visitor. Site content is only legitimate when it is factual, grammatically correct, and well written. If the site content is fictional (short stories, satires, etc…), their must be some sort of disclaimer stating that it is. Site content is relevant when the visitor can relate to it. If the content addresses a topic that is of particular interest to the audience and is presented in a timely manner, it is also relevant. To keep the visitor's attention, site content can be long or short. However, it should be broken down into relatively short paragraphs that consist of short sentences. Also, people should provide their audience with frequently updated content. It intrigues the audience to come back periodically and see what is new. Site content is crucial to the success of a website. Search engine optimization techniques are definitely helpful and dynamic graphics are appealing, but the substance of a website makes it shine.
